The Qualities and Traits of Good Leadership

To date, the issues of good leadership and qualities required for it are of a particular importance in the business sphere. It is not surprising, since the leader's characteristics and styles presented in various areas of work have a direct impact on management of enterprises. By and large, modern management is inconceivable without clear understanding of different styles of leadership and their distinctive features. Equally important is the comprehension of the need to respect moral principles in the business sphere, since interaction with one’s business partners requires ethics as a discipline that regulates these relations. In my personal development as a business leader, I give preference to the democratic, innovative and charismatic leadership styles taking into account the value of ethical principles in the working environment as in case study https://perfectwritings.com/case-study-assignment.html

My Personal Qualities as a Business Leader Analyzing my leadership qualities, I can confidently say that I possess quite important managerial traits; nevertheless, some of them need further improvement. My main personal feature is that I am a fairly open and sociable person who easily comes into contact with other people. From my point of view, a good leader is a person who constantly communicates with his employees, and in this respect emotional and psychological openness towards other people is the first step in establishing contact with them.

Equally important is the ability to inspire trust and respect for one's personality and, in my opinion, I have these two qualities. As it is known, the leader is a person who is able to gain credibility and recognition of his subordinates, colleagues and partners. Lack of trust in the leader is a guarantee that he will not be able to achieve the desired result because all his decisions and proposals will be considered as not worth special attention. For this reason, high confidence in one’s own leader is the key to the success of the company. On the other hand, the ability to inspire respect from other people is the result of a long work on oneself, first of all, in terms of social responsibility. Respect is the result of trust. In its turn, trust is possible only if the leader presents himself or herself as a reliable person who realizes the importance of social responsibility in the eyes of other people.

In general, my dignity as a business leader, above all, can be seen in respect for such moral values as honesty, justice, reliability, and responsibility. I have always understood the significance of these ethical standards. My formation as a business leader has further confirmed me in understanding their extreme importance within the framework of collaboration with people. In my opinion, the modern leader is primarily a moral person who realizes the fundamental necessity of the ethical code in conditions of cooperation with other people, including subordinates and partners. It is pointless to argue that a leader can ignore the moral code guided solely by his or her business objectives. In fact, modern entrepreneurship and business ethics have become inextricably linked with each other and every leader must clearly understand this.

On the other hand, I must say that I need to develop and improve some of my leadership skills, in particular my expertise in time management. Despite the fact that it may seem to be an insignificant element in doing business, nevertheless it does not correspond to reality. In fact, the managerial skills of a good leader include a special focus on time control, which is seen as the ability to use one’s own time fruitfully in pursuit of various goals. In this regard, I must admit that my skills in this field need further development because I do not always clearly understand how I can use my time to achieve certain goals.

Leadership Styles that I Prefer Among a wide variety of leadership styles, I believe that the most useful for me are represented by democratic, innovative and charismatic ones, because collectively they provide the most effective ways to achieve business goals.

My principled approach to building business relations is based on the conviction that these relations should be democratic and therefore I prefer a democratic style of leadership. Unlike the authoritarian style, which assumes an emphasis solely on the decisive word of the leader, the democratic style ‘encourages staff to be part of the decision making’. A distinctive feature of this style is that it is focused on the constant cooperation between the leader and his subordinates who, in the framework of this style, become in essence partners of the manager. This style appeals to me for the reason that it is consonant with my individual qualities as a person who is inclined to constant interaction with other people and is interested in finding the common truth for all, in this case the most optimal business decision. The great value of the style is that it helps to build the most harmonious relationship between leaders and their subordinates, and thus it has a direct influence on the atmosphere that reigns in the company.

In its turn, the innovative leadership style is an excellent opportunity for the further development and prosperity of the company as a competitive corporation capable of meeting the most modern requirements of society. This style implies openness to the latest innovations of various kinds and willingness to apply them in practice, provided they are potentially useful for the company. The urgency of this style is determined by the fact that modern technologies are constantly developing and successful achievement of diverse business goals is possible if the company continually reacts to different changes and transformations in the technological sphere.

Finally, the justification of the charismatic leadership style is that it allows the leader to increase the opportunities for his influence on employees by forming the most attractive image for them. In my opinion, this style is absolutely necessary in the sense that it ‘influences others through power of personality’ and has a direct connection to the emotional impact on employees of the company. Ultimately, it is about effective interaction among all participants of business processes based, inter alia, on emotional and psychological attachment to the leader.

My main feature as a future business leader is that I clearly understand the significance of respecting a number of moral principles in the interaction with the company's employees. Moral qualities such as honesty, justice, and the desire for equality are extremely important for building a harmonious relationship between the leader and his subordinates. At the same time, my task is to improve my time management skills, since a good leader is first and foremost a leader who can effectively manage his or her time. In general, I tend to use such leadership styles as democratic, innovative and charismatic ones because in the aggregate they significantly increase the chances for the prosperity of the company as a whole. Democratic style promotes the formation of fruitful working relations among employees. Innovative style is an additional opportunity to strengthen the company's competitiveness. Finally, the charismatic style is used to fortify the influence of the leaders on their employees.
