Telenursing and Telemedicine

Telenursing implies the use of technology in professional medical practice and the provision of health care for needy people. Despite the fact that the utilization of technology has changed the way nursing care is delivered, nurse specialists still refer to telenursing when providing services. They believe that in addition to the alleviation of burden that the medical profession and its challenges pose, they can develop necessary programs and encourage patients to participate in them, mentioning the main benefits. They are as follows: the prevention of diseases/illnesses, accurate and quick diagnosis, a variety of actions and choices, proper evaluation, and an adequate assessment (Lu, Chi, & Chen, 2013). Thus, patients and providers are encouraged to participate in the pilot program at my hospital since it accelerates healing, improves well-being, and provides many opportunities in the long term, eases professional activity, and accelerates positive health outcomes through the wide utilization of telemonitoring equipment, digital assessment tools, telephones, computers, and the Internet. Hospitals and providers highly value telenursing and telemedicine due to the ability to provide a smooth and timely transfer of vital information and engage all concerned parties to participate in programs. Effectiveness, easiness of use, and timesaving are the core aspects that make nurses’ work easier. I will explain these benefits to healthcare providers to motivate them to take part in the pilot program of care transition. The desire to participate in it increases due to the potential offered. It helps to raise providers’ awareness of patients’ preferences, as well as substantially decreases the rate of hospital readmission. In order to engage patients in telemedicine and make them more active, I will develop effective and inventive caring methods, improve the management of symptoms, and ensure precise compliance with the prescribed regimen (Lu et al., 2013). Telehealth also helps me to monitor and communicate with clients and colleagues beyond the acute care settings and impacts the utilization rate for services. There are many ways to encourage patients to engage in the program and ensure its success in the long term. The core aspect is the maximization of value for every patient regardless of his/her age, gender, race, and the achievement of the best outcome at the lowest cost. If patients recognize that their healthcare needs are met and they get necessary services at an affordable cost, they are ready to participate in the program. In order to motivate them, I will shift from the healthcare system focusing on physicians’ work and duties towards a comprehensive system prioritizing patients’ needs. In order to interest and engage patients in the pilot program, I will also refocus my attention from profits and volume, including tests, procedures, hospitalizations, and physician visits, towards the achievement of favorable patient outcomes (Schlachta-Fairchild, Varghese, Deickman, & Castelli, 2010). For me, the task of top priority is to replace a fragmented healthcare system, where local caregivers offer various services, with the one where healthcare providers deliver vital services and provide highly valuable care for certain medical conditions in the right locations. The transformation is the core and valuable aspect of an overarching strategy that requires the restructuring of the organization, measurement, and reimbursement of healthcare delivery. Changes should occur from within. Therefore, in order to motivate patients and healthcare practitioners to engage in the program, I will improve value and the way they practice medicine. Every stakeholder is assigned a specific role in the healthcare system. Suppliers, employers, healthcare plans, and patients should accelerate system’s transformation, as well as promote telenursing and telemedicine in the hospital. All involved parties will benefit from this transformation. In addition, if well-trained clinicians properly address such issues as a high cost and inadequate quality of provided services, then patients will be more motivated to participate in the pilot program. To conclude, the provision of high-quality telecare ensures accurate reconciliation of medications, as well as improves patients’ health outcomes. Since telenursing and telemedicine reduce hospital readmissions and the overall healthcare cost, these benefits should encourage clients to participate in the pilot program. In order to make patients more active and involved, I will promote communication and achieve the high-quality transition of care. It can be done through home visits, telehealth services, and telephone calls. The telehealth technology significantly improves nurse productivity. They have received a great opportunity to spend more time on the provision of direct patient care and apply education in their professional practice.
