Spanish Princess Cristina Infanta Summoned to the Court over Fraud

A magistrate in Spain fixed a muster to the youthful daughter of King Carols Juan to show in the law court due to illegal purchase and cash laundering. The king’s daughter was involved in the investment affairs of Inake, her husband who was also been examined for embezzlement. She appeared in court on 8 March last year. In the history of the country, she was the first close relative of the king who appeared in court as a wrongdoer.

She was summoned for questioning regarding her partnership with her husband in Aizoon, one of the firms they had. It happened because her husband’s properties were impounded immediately after his allegations. She denied the allegations, a factor that made her pass without being charged with any crime. Among the properties that were impounded, there is a luxurious house in Botswana. The judge summoned the princess without putting into consideration the objections from the prosecutor who dealt with corruption cases in the region. The anti-corruption prosecutor argued that there was no evidence about the princess’ involvement into the crimes committed by her husband.

The general public expects the king’s family to be a good example of avoiding malicious actions such as fraud and corruption. Though the allegations were not proved, it is evident that the princess’ husband engaged in unethical deals (Spanish Princess Infanta Cristina Summoned over Fraud, 2014). However, the loyal house representative in a public address acknowledged that they have respect for constitutional structures such as the Judiciary. Therefore, they will respect the decision of the court since it enforces the law.

Many people were moved by the allegations and wanted to find out how the loyal family would express itself in regard to the matter and the outcomes of the court. The king's speech left many people in a smile considering him as a true leader of the century.
